Anderson man dies after being hit by SUV

The incident happened around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday near East 6th Street and Scatterfield Road.

ANDERSON, Ind. — An Anderson man has died from his injuries after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday night. 

According to a release from the Anderson Police Department, around 10:40 p.m. on April 16, officers responded to the area of East 6th Street and Scatterfield Road on a report of a pedestrian struck. 

Officers found a 66-year-old man in the roadway suffering from critical injuries. He was transported to an Indianapolis hospital in serious condition. Two days later, the Madison County Coroner's Office issued a release saying the man had died from his injuries.  

APD's preliminary investigation shows that an SUV was traveling northbound of Scatterfield Road when the driver hit the 66-year-old man while he was crossing the street. 

The SUV's driver, a 55-year-old woman from Alexandria, has reportedly fully cooperated with the investigation.
