INDIANAPOLIS — Some of the city's favorite faces were seen together Tuesday at one of Indy's favorite places.
David Letterman and Caitlin Clark were spotted at Long's Donuts at 16th and Tremont streets. They were filming for a Netflix special.
Indianapolis musician and author Tevin Studdard was just going in for a sweet treat when he saw them.
Studdard ended up giving Dave a children's book he wrote about him, titled "Dave Loves Donuts." The book's cover even shows a bearded Letterman at Long's.
Here's some background:
Studdard loves Long's Donuts. He made a music video about the bakery. Studdard is also a champion of children's literacy, with dozens of published books, including the one with Letterman.
But what are the chances that such star power would come together like this?
"The phenom we know, Caitlin Clark, and the IPS legend, the hometown hero Dave Letterman, I was like ... at Long's Bakery? It was just crazy," Studdard told 13News. "Just seeing them, I was completely shocked. I always just keep books on me about people, so I don't expect to ever run (into them) but if I do, I'm ready!"
Studdard has also written books about every Black mayor in the state of Indiana and he just finished a series with every player on the Indianapolis Colts roster, so he's ready for his next chance encounter.
Letterman interviewed Clark at Ball State's Emens Auditorium on Monday as part of the David Letterman Distinguished Profesisonal Lecture and Workshop Series.
Clark earned WNBA Rookie of the Year honors after leading the Indiana Fever to the team's first playoff appearance since 2016.
