4 people critically injured during accident at southwestern Indiana tractor pull

In total, three pedestrians and the driver of a Jeep were taken to area hospitals in critical condition.

LYONS, Ind. — Four people were hospitalized after an incident during the Schied’s Diesel Extravaganza truck and tractor pull in southwestern Indiana Friday evening. 

According to a release from the Greene County Sheriff's Office, around 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 23, GCSO deputies were called to Wagler Motorsports Park in the town of Lyons on a report of a vehicle accident. 

When officers arrived, witnesses told them that a Jeep, which was being used as a pit vehicle, was driven out of the truck pull staging area and into the crowd, striking three pedestrians. The Jeep also reportedly struck a side-by-side, a track rake and another vehicle before rolling over onto its side. 

In total, three pedestrians and the driver of the Jeep were taken to area hospitals in critical condition.

The sheriff's office identified the driver of the Jeep as a 55-year-old woman from Tennessee, as well as the three men who were struck and injured: 31-year-old from Pennsylvania, 33-year-old from Ohio and 30-year-old from Tennessee.

The Greene County Sheriff's Office says the accident is still under investigation. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact GCSO at 812-384-4411.
