35-year-old dies in high-speed crash in Noblesville

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — One person has died as a result of a high-speed crash in Noblesville early Saturday morning.

According to the Noblesville Police Department, shortly after 3 a.m. on Nov. 4, officers responded to 146th Street and Promise Road in Noblesville on a report of a vehicle crash. 

Officers found a crashed 2013 Chrysler 200 with its its driver, later identified as 35-year-old Derrick M. Shetler, of Noblesville, having been ejected from the vehicle.

Evidence from the scene, along with witness statements, led police to believe Shetler was driving his vehicle eastbound on 146th Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle apparently hit a curb near Promise Road, left the road and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop on the south side of 146th Street. 

There were no other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Eastbound 146th Street was briefly closed during the investigation but has since reopened. 

Noblesville police said the cause of the crash is still being investigated.
