CARMEL, Ind. — The project expanding Conner Prairie from Fishers into Carmel is moving forward.
Carmel's Plan Commission voted unanimously Tuesday in support of the expansion.
"We are delighted and deeply appreciative of the Carmel Plan Commission's passing of Conner Prairie's PUD rezoning request," said Chris Cooke, Conner Prairie Foundation Chair. "Their approval of this request represents a pivotal moment for Conner Prairie and the broader community."
Here are the proposed projects, as outlined in the 2018 Conner Prairie Site Master Plan:
- Food, Farm, and Energy Experience
- Land, Water, and Energy Innovation Center
- White River Education and Ecology Center
- Farm-to-Table Restaurant and unique Eco Lodging opportunities
According to a news release from Conner Prairie, the projects will revolutionize the way visitors engage with history, nature and agriculture, and bring forward best practices in the low-impact design of a cultural space.
The next step in complete approval of the development will be from the full Carmel City Council, which is expected to review the proposal Aug. 21.
