2 killed in Martinsville mobile home fire

The fire occurred on South Outer Drive, just off of Interstate 69, according to the Morgan County Coroner's Office.

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — Two people were killed in fire early Sunday morning at a mobile home in Martinsville.

The fire occurred on South Outer Drive around 5:45 a.m. March 3, just north of Interstate 69 and State Road 37, according to the Morgan County Coroner's Office.

Martinsville Fire Department Chief Kevin Greene said firefighters found two bodies in their initial search of the scene. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

“The floor was burnt out pretty close to the inside of the door, and outside of that, once they got through, just getting our way through that was the biggest difficulty," Greene said.

The Martinsville Fire Department is expected to release more information on the incident at a later time.

Neighbors have reached out to the fire department with offers to help.

“We had a discussion with them that if anytime they need to come to the firehouse and talk to us or they need help, we will get them help. That’s the beauty of a small community, we are able to reach out to them, and we will also stay in contact with them to keep them moving along and make sure they are OK," a neighbor told 13News.
