2 injured after car found in north Indianapolis retention pond

The Pike Township Fire Department said crews were called to the intersection of 86th Street and Township Line Road Wednesday morning.

INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were injured after a car was found in a retention pond on the north side of Indianapolis Wednesday morning. 

Around 10 a.m. Nov. 6, the Pike Township Fire Department said crews were called to the intersection of 86th Street and Township Line Road on a report of a car in a retention pond. 

Officials said multiple civilian bystanders "jumped into action" and were able to pull the two passengers from the vehicle.

Emergency personnel helped the victims up the "steep, muddy hill" and then took them to a local hospital, according to a post on social media.

The Pike Township Fire Department, Indianapolis Fire Department and Wayne Township Fire Department all helped in this incident. 

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
