PENDLETON, Ind. — Police are investigating a Saturday afternoon crash in Madison County that critically injured two people.
According to a release from the Madison County Sheriff's Office, around 5 p.m. on March 9, police were called to the area around State Road 67 South and State Road 38, which is near Pendleton Heights High School, on a report of a two-car crash.
Officers arrived and found two cars, a 2001 Ford pickup truck and a 2001 Hyundai SUV, wrecked at the scene. The driver of the pickup was reported to be a 40-year-old man from Ingalls, while the Hyundai was reportedly being driven by a 60-year-old woman, also from Ingalls.
Both drivers were taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with critical injuries.
A preliminary investigation by police revealed the Ford pickup truck was going northbound on State Road 67 when it crossed the center line and crashed head-on into the Hyundai, which was going southbound.
The crash remains under investigation.
