LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. — A teenager is dead following a four-wheeler accident Saturday in northwestern Indiana.
LaPorte County officials responded to a report of the accident around 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21 near the 3900 block of North County Road 350 East in New Prairie.
First responders discovered a 14-year-old was driving the off-road vehicle on private property at a "high rate of speed" when they struck an object, causing deadly injuries.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
This investigation is ongoing.
