1.) I wake up around 1:45 a.m. to get ready each morning for Sunrise. Traffic at that hour of the morning is just fine.
2.) Outside of the Colts and Pacers, I'm a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, and more recently a fan of English Premier League team Manchester United.
3.) I have a twin sister who lives in the Chicago area. My older brother now lives in Plainfield, Indiana. While growing up, our mom worked for United Airlines, and regularly took us on trips around the country. The great part was seeing the world around us. But for some reason, my mom made my brother and I travel in matching suits and glasses!
4.) I was able to meet legendary Chicago Cubs announcer Harry Caray a couple of times, and to this day I have no trouble singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" in public.
5.) My first stint in journalism was editor of my grade school newspaper in 6th grade.
6.) I would go on to become editor of my junior high newspaper, and hold various editor roles on my high school newspaper.
7.) My first TV news job was anchoring at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where Chuck Lofton and I worked together for the first time. I still had the suit, but got rid of the glasses.
8.) My wife grew up a block away from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
9.) My oldest son helped lead his Avon High School soccer team to the State High School Championship game and won the C. Eugene Cato Mental Attitude Award after the game.
10.) Both sons now play soccer, with Jonathan at IUPUI and Justin at Avon High School. Both wear the number 13. Coincidence?
11.) Our family beagle has her own twitter page
. Her uncle is Uno, the beagle who won Best in Show at 2008 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
12.) I enjoy playing golf and have four holes-in-one.
13.) Despite waking up each morning at 1:45am, I don't see it as "sleep deprivation," but rather "life in a dreamlike state."
