SOUTHPORT, Ind. (WTHR) — Lt. Aaron Allan's funeral procession stopped at Southport Police Department headquarters where the fallen officer was marked out of service for the final time.
The emotional announcement was made as the hearse stopped in front of Lt. Allan's patrol car that has been setup as a memorial.
All police radios in Marion County broadcasted the call from police dispatch.
An officer is "10-41" or marked into service at the start of their shift. They are "10-42" marked out of service once their shift is over.
The 10-42 call signifies the end of Lt. Allan's watch as a public servant.
