Carefree, IN - Only one person remains hospitalized following an explosion that released hydrochloric acid gas at a southern Indiana factory and hurt 29 workers.

Crawford County Emergency Management Director Kent Barrow says 26 people were taken to a nearby hospital after the Thursday afternoon accident, and three more people sought treatment on their own.

He didn't know the condition of the person who remained hospitalized on Friday, but says the injuries are not life threatening.

Authorities say workers at Jasper Engines and Transmissions near the town of Carefree were mixing chemicals when the gas was accidentally created.

More than 200 people working at the time were evacuated from the factory about 35 miles west of Louisville, Ky.
