LEBANON, Ind. — One person was taken to the hospital and a pet pig was rescued from a house fire in Lebanon Monday afternoon.
The fire was reported around 2:45 p.m. June 3 in the 1400 block of Ashley Drive, near Witt Road and Lafayette Avenue.
Responding crews found flames near the entrance to the house and throughout the attic. The occupants were not home at the time, the Lebanon Fire Department said, but a pet pig was trapped inside.
A Lebanon firefighter removed the pig from inside, and the fire was brought under control around 3:20 p.m.
"One occupant, not in the residence at the time, was taken to Witham Hospital for further treatment," the fire department said in a statement.
No other injuries were reported.
The Salvation Army is assisting the residents of the home. A neighboring home also sustained heat damage, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
