TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — An 18-year-old was killed in a two-car crash near West Lafayette Thursday morning, police said.
The crash was reported around 7:30 a.m. April 11 in the 2900 block of State Road 26 West, not far west from West Lafayette.
First responders found a Dodge hatchback car and Chrysler minivan had crashed head-on. The driver of the minivan, a 60-year-old West Lafayette woman, was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital in "serious but stable" condition, the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
Police said the driver of the hatchback car, identified by the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office as 18-year-old June Anneliese Florian, of West Lafayette, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, April 12.
A preliminary investigation indicated the hatchback was traveling westbound when it crossed the center line and hit the minivan, police said.
State Road 26 West was closed for roughly three hours during the investigation.
