INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Fire Department says one adult and five children were displaced after a house fire on the city's east side Wednesday afternoon.
According to a social media post from IFD, around 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 28, firefighters were dispatched to a rental home in the 2600 block of East Michigan Street, near North Belmont Avenue, on a report of a working residence fire.
When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the back of the home, with the possibility of the fire spreading to the east side of the home. Firefighters were able to evacuate everyone out of the house safely.
IFD says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
