Terre Haute - Katron Walker, the Terre Haute man accused of killing one son and attempting to kill another, left the hospital Friday and went straight to court. His injured two-year-old son also left the hospital and went home.

In Vigo Superior court, Katron Walker received a court-appointed attorney and was advised the judge had found sufficient evidence to have him arrested.

Vigo County Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Mulligan said she anticipated filing murder and attempted murder charges against Walker Monday. She is considering pursuing the death penalty.

"The facts of this case, as I'm aware of them, are egregious and warrant the most severe penalty and this is eligible for the death penalty because the victim was less than twelve," she said.

Walker is accused of cutting his sons' throats, stabbing them repeatedly and throwing them in a Vigo County lake as police closed in around him.

Four-year-old Collin died of a stab wound to the heart. Monte, two, survived. Doctors released him from Riley Hospital Friday afternoon, sooner than expected. He is expected to make a full recovery from stab wounds that police say were inflicted by his father.

At the grandfather's Terre Haute home where police say Walker took the boys at knife point Tuesday, a simple sign asks the family be left alone.

Authorities want Walker left alone as well, as he awaits trial. Fearing he might be attacked by other inmates in the Vigo County jail, jailers had him transferred to a more secure facility of the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Meanwhile, funeral arrangements have been made for Monte's brother, Collin Walker. Visitation for the four-year-old will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at St. Ann's Church at 1440 Locust Street in Terre Haute. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday.
