The daughter of an Indiana state senator is hoping to follow in her mother's footsteps.
Jean Breaux announced her candidacy for the 34th district Senate seat Tuesday. Breaux wants to finish the term of her mother, State Senator Billie Breaux, who recently won the election for Marion County Auditor. The younger Breaux says she's concerned about the number of Hoosiers without health care.
"We need some kind of universal, single payment health care system that will cover all Hoosiers," she said.
Breaux also hopes to create more jobs for urban communities. She currently works at the Forest Manor Multi-Service Center.
