YORKTOWN, Ind. -- A school nurse who also worked as a pastor remains in jail one week after he was arrested for allegedly molesting a child.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Brian Couch, 55, called the Yorktown Police Department to report his own criminal activity. When investigators arrived at his house to investigate, Couch told them he had inappropriately touched a child for many years.
“Couch said that he wanted to tell police about his inappropriate behavior so that his family could move on,” Yorktown police officer Ryan Jaromin wrote in a report filed with Delaware County Courts.
Earlier this week, prosecutors charged Couch with 11 felonies, including sexual misconduct with a minor and multiple counts of molesting a child. According to his victim, the sexual molestation began when the child was six years old and took place repeatedly.
Couch was a pastor for several years at the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene. Until his arrest, he was also a school nurse at Yorktown Elementary and Middle schools. According to court documents, the abuse was not linked to either of the places Couch worked.
The former pastor and school nurse is in the Delaware County jail with a $300,000 bond.
His initial hearing is scheduled for September 9.
