Doctors, nurses and hospital staff joined the celebration of the major milestone Monday.

INDIANAPOLIS — It's a place where medical miracles happen, and hope can be seen on the faces of patients in little red wagons.

Riley Hospital for Children is celebrating 100 years

On Monday, Oct. 7, doctors, nurses and hospital staff celebrated the major milestone. They recognized the decades of work toward pediatric health care and research.

"This has been a century of serving Hoosiers. I think everyone who works here proudly serves. Our vision at IU Health is to make Indiana one of the healthiest states, and Riley Children's Hospital serves as a cornerstone of that vision," said Dennis Murphy, IU Health president and CEO.

Riley's oldest living patient attended Monday's ceremony. Anna Lee McGee, now 89, was treated at Riley for polio when she was a child.

“To celebrate 100 years is not just a milestone for Riley Hospital for Children, but a testament to the unwavering commitment of our team members, clinicians, and community partners who have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of children,” said Dr. Elaine Cox, chief physician executive at Riley Children’s Health. “As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to our mission of providing world-class care and pioneering research that transforms pediatric and maternal health.”
