TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WTHR) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Zeigler Meats has issued a recall on some of its ready-to-eat poultry and sausage products that may be contaminated with metal.
Products included in the recall are RTE Red Hot chicken and pork sausage items produced Nov. 29, 2018.
- 24-oz. plastic packages containing approximately 9 links of "ZEIGLER A TRADITION OF GREAT TASTE RED HOTS” with a "Use By Jan 24 19" date.
- 24-oz. plastic packages containing approximately 9 links of "EXTRA HOT ZEIGLER A TRADITION OF GREAT TASTE RED HOTS" with a "Use By Jan 24 19" date.
While the company received consumer complaints in December, there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses or adverse reactions. However, the company is encouraging those who have the products immediately throw them away or return them to the store where they got them.
The products have the establishment number "EST. P-9156S" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The items were shipped to retailers nationwide.
