Indiana health officials urge people to dispose of recalled Diamond Shruumz products

Health officials said there have been 39 total illnesses reported from 20 states with 23 hospitalizations, including three confirmed cases in Indiana.

INDIANAPOLIS — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is urging people to not buy, sell or serve Diamond Shruumz brand chocolate bars, cones, or gummies following a recall issued by the manufacturer. 

The Indiana Department of Health said officials are investigating reports of "severe acute illnesses" potentially associated with eating Diamond Shruumz brand chocolate bars, cones and gummies marketed as "containing a proprietary blend of mushrooms."

As of June 24, 2024, health officials said there have been 39 total illnesses reported from 20 states with 23 hospitalizations, including three confirmed cases in Indiana. There have been no deaths reported.

After eating Diamond Shruumz brand products, people who got sick reported a variety of symptoms including:

  • Seizures
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Confusion
  • Sleepiness
  • Agitation
  • Abnormal heart rates
  • Changes in blood pressure
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting

The Indiana Department of Heath said those who get sick after eating these products should seek medical treatment. Call the Indiana Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222 to report symptoms and get more information. Health officials said callers should let Poison Control know they have recently eaten Diamond Shruumz brand chocolate bars, cones, or gummies.
