GREENWOOD, Ind. (WTHR) - A new rehab facility is coming to Greenwood thanks to a joint venture between Community Health and Kindred Healthcare.

The newly-named Community Rehabilitation Hospital South will be modeled after an existing facility on Indianapolis' northeast side. The 40 bed inpatient facility will provide post-acute care for patients working through symptoms related to stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular diseases, orthopedics, amputations and related disorders. They'll also feature specialized clinical programs including a dedicated brain injury unit for patients suffering from trauma-related neurological conditions.

“We are thrilled to once again partner with Kindred to provide exceptional rehabilitative care to those patients who need it,” said Jason Fahrlander, Chief Operating Officer for Community Health Network. “This new hospital allows us to further our goal of providing convenient access to specialized post-acute care to help improve the lives of individuals in this region.”

Community Hospital North and Community Howard Specialty Hospital in Kokomo are also joint ventures between Kindred and Community.

The new operation is expected to open at 607 Greenwood Springs Dr. in early 2018 after remodeling is done.
