Ingalls issues boil water advisory after water tower loses 300,000 gallons of water

The Ingalls Water Department is issuing the advisory for customers in the State Road 13 and Interstate 69 area, just over 20 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

INGALLS, Ind. — A boil water advisory has been issued for Ingalls after a water tower lost 300,000 gallons of water due to a crash.

The Ingalls Water Department is issuing the advisory for customers in the State Road 13 and Interstate 69 area, just over 20 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

Those customers should use bottled water or will need to boil water for at least three minutes before using it for cooking or drinking.

Randy McVay, a spokesperson from the Ingalls Water Department, said a car crashed into a fire hydrant and snapped it off from the water main, causing a water tower to lose 300,000 gallons of water.

McVay also said the advisory was issued as a precaution and does not necessarily mean the water is contaminated. Samples of the water are now being tested.
