INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Regal Cinemas has introduced its plans to join the monthly movie subscription service.
According to Deadline, Regal Unlimited will launch within the coming days.
The theater chain's first monthly subscription service has three tiers depending on location: $18 per month, $21, and $23.50.
Luckily, all 11 Indiana locations fall under the $18 Regal Unlimited plan.
There will be no blackout dates and no limits on tickets per month; however, you can only have three pending reservations at a time.
Regal Unlimited has one caveat: each subscription has an initial, non-cancelable term of one year, which totals out to $216 for the year.
Before subscribing, be sure to review all of the FAQs and Program Rules.
The monthly ticketing programs took off in 2017 when MoviePass announced its $10 monthly subscription to see one movie a day. The company couldn't sustain this business model and at one point, parent company Helios and Matheson had to take out a $5 million emergency loan to pay its payment processors after missed payments resulted in service outages.
MoviePass is not currently accepting new subscribers, stating, "For the past several months, MoviePass™ has been working hard to improve our groundbreaking subscription service to ensure it meets the vision that we have for it."
Last summer, AMC debuted its $19.95 a month movie subscription service, titled AMC A-List. Subscribers can see up to three movies per week and features other AMC Stubs membership benefits.
