INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — If you're one of the '90s kids who has been wondering what the kids from Disney's "Recess" have been up to since the show ended in 2006, you are not alone.
Fans of the show have wrapped up shooting a film that follows, TJ, Vince, Gretchen, Spinelli, Mikey and Gus as they navigate their high school years.
In the movie, the friends work to cheer up Mikey after getting his heart broken. But while on their journey to finding Mikey's happiness, they find something more menacing that's happening behind closed doors at Third Street High School.
The filmmakers have started a crowdfunding page through Indiegogo to raise money to complete the film. They have a goal to raise nearly $7,000, which they say will go toward things like feeding the crew and paying for post-production work.
Most of the roles have already been announced for the film, and the filmmakers say both the cast and crew are working on a volunteer status, so all donations will go toward funding the film itself. Outside of the main "Recess" gang, "The Ashleys," "Randall," and "King Bob" also make appearances in the film.
The film is a nonprofit project that will not be submitted to any festivals. Once it's finished, it will be available online.
