HOLLYWOOD (WTHR) — So much for Steve Trevor sacrificing himself to save Wonder Woman and the rest of humanity.

Warner Bros. released the first trailer for "Wonder Woman 1984" Sunday evening.

Gal Gadot returns for her fourth outing as Diana Prince, the immortal Amazon warrior goddess, following "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League."

"Have you ever been in love?" asks Barbara Ann Minerva, played by Kristen Wiig ("Bridesmaids," "Saturday Night Live").

"A long, long time ago," responds Prince, referring to her relationship with Captain Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) in the first film, which took place during World War I.

Fast forward more than 60 years, and we are in the '80s!

The trailer pays homage to the decade with shopping malls and techno music, much like the third season of Netflix's "Stranger Things," which took place in 1985.

Halfway through the trailer, a mysterious, familiar voice says, "I can save today, but you save the world."

Trevor is back after somehow surviving the detonation of the mustard gas aboard a plane he hijacked at the end of the 2017 film. Also, Trevor isn't immortal like Prince, so how does he still look like he hasn't aged a day?

"Think about finally having everything you always wanted," says businessman Maxwell Lord, played by Pedro Pascal ("Game of Thrones," "The Mandalorian").

It seems Prince might've made a deal with the businessman to bring Trevor back.

Hidden from the trailer? Wiig's villainous turn as Cheetah from the DC Comics but was teased in the newest character posters.

Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen reprise their roles as Antiope and Hippolyta, respectively.

"Wonder Woman 1984" opens nationwide June 5, 2020.
