Duolingo now offers course in High Valyrian, language used in 'Game of Thrones'

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Challenge yourself before the final season of "Game of Thrones" airs and learn High Valyrian, the language spoken in GOT.

David J. Peterson, who created the original languages used in the series, has partnered with Duolingo, a language learning app, to teach fans how to speak like the characters.

To get your started, Duolingo has provided some phrases:

  1. Valar morghulis” - All men must die.
  2. “Skorverdon zaldrīzoti Daenerys ēza?” - How many dragons does Daenerys have?
  3. “Varys zaldrīzerme Dovaogēdī majaqsa.” - Varys admires the indestructible Unsullied.
  4. “Targārien jāhon āegenkon dēmalion majaqsa.” - The Targaryen admires his iron throne
  5. “Ñuhe averilloma kepe ykynan.” - I smell my drunk uncle.
