The Grinch, who lives atop Mt. Crumpit, despises Christmas and decides to prevent Christmas from coming to Whoville with the help of his dog, Max.
The 26-minute special introduced the popular Christmas song, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch."
NBC stations will air "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. and again on Christmas at 8 p.m., followed by the 2000 live-action version starring Jim Carrey.
