INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" actress Denise Nickerson has died, according to TMZ
Nickerson played Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 film. She passed away in the hospital on Wednesday night.
In June 2018, Nickerson was taken to the ICU after suffering a severe stroke and was put on life support.
On Tuesday, her son, Josh, posted that they had taken her off life support to make her more comfortable.
"We're telling her it's okay to let go," he wrote.
While in the hospital receiving treatment for the stroke, her family started a GoFundMe to help pay for expenses.
She passed away just one day after she was taken off life support.
Nickerson was 62 years old.
