Aretha Franklin's casket came from an Indiana company

An Indiana company is proud to have one of its caskets chosen for Aretha Franklin.

DETROIT (WTHR) — The casket Aretha Franklin will be laid to rest in on Friday, came from a Hoosier company.

Batesville confirms for Eyewitness News that the family chose a model called the "Promethean."

The company calls it the "gold standard" of caskets because of the shiny gold mirror finish.

Franklin's casket took up to 150 hours to construct, customize and hand-polish to get that mirror effect.

It isn't all gold though. There is 48 ounces of polished bronze and just the hardware is 14 karat gold-plated.

Batesville says this is the same casket model selected by the families of Michael Jackson and James Brown.

The company released a statement reading in part:

"Aretha Franklin’s music touched the souls of so many across multiple generations and musical tastes. We are honored that her family chose a Batesville product – especially one that was manufactured in our home state of Indiana – and join the nation in celebrating a truly unique life." - Batesville

Aretha Franklin's funeral will be held on Friday in Detroit.
