INDIANAPOLIS — It's hard to say and hear, but school is almost back — which means lots of back-to-school shopping.

Teachers' Treasures is hoping school can be made easier for teachers with students who may not be able to afford items this year with a back-to-school supply drive at White River State Park.

"We started the back-to-school drive last year and experienced great success, so we are glad to bring this community event back again this year," said Jake Oakman, executive director of White River State Park. "Supporting Teachers’ Treasures and the important work they do to assist area educators and students is a great way for us to kick off back-to-school season in central Indiana."

On Sunday, July 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Celebration Plaza, the park will gather hundreds of supplies for Teachers' Treasures, an organization that delivers donated school supplies free to teachers all throughout Marion County.

Prior to the event, supplies can be dropped off at White River State Park's Visitor Center.

Needed supplies include:

  • Folders
  • Notebooks
  • Calculators
  • Crayons
  • Erasers
  • Glue sticks
  • Pencils
  • Pens

The event will include lawn games, face painting, food trucks, live music and ticket giveaways to White River State Park attractions.

Tickets are free for guests who register here.
