INDIANAPOLIS — Several Indiana schools have received recognition as 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools.
When the U.S. Department of Education announced their list of 356 Blue Ribbon Schools Monday, it included 16 schools in the Hoosier State, including:
- Evansville – Oak Hill Elementary School, Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation
- Floyds Knobs – Saint Mary of the Knobs Catholic School, Archdiocese of Indianapolis
- Greenwood – Saints Francis & Clare of Assisi Catholic School, Archdiocese of Indianapolis
- Hebron – Porter Lakes Elementary School, Porter Township School Corporation
- Indianapolis – Heritage Christian School, Heritage Christian School District
- Indianapolis – Paramount Cottage Home, Paramount Schools of Excellence
- Indianapolis – Roncalli High School, Archdiocese of Indianapolis
- Indianapolis – St. Pius X Catholic School, Archdiocese of Indianapolis
- Ladoga – Ladoga Elementary School, South Montgomery Comm School Corporation
- Montgomery – Barr-Reeve Middle/High School, Barr-Reeve Community Schools
- Munster – St. Thomas More School, Diocese of Gary
- Noblesville – St. Theodore Guerin High School, Diocese of Lafayette
- Pine Village – Pine Village Elementary School, MSD Warren County
- Shipshewana – Meadowview Elementary School, Westview School Corporation.
- Wadesville – Saint Wendel Catholic School, Diocese of Evansville
- West Lafayette – West Lafayette Elementary School, West Lafayette Comm School Corp.
"The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a testament to the exceptional achievements of students and educators at each of these schools,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. “The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation’s students, serving as models for effective teaching and intentional collaboration in their schools and communities."
The Blue Ribbon Schools designation recognizes schools which excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among student groups.
As part of the award, schools receive receive a flag bearing the Blue Ribbon emblem for display at an entryway or on a school flagpole.
DOE accepts up to 420 nominations for the award each year, submitted by the top education official in all states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, the Bureau of Indian Education and the Department of Defense Education Activity. The Council for American Private Education can nominate private schools.
