INDIANAPOLIS — Washington Township schools has a new superintendent.
The MSD Washington Township school board approved Dr. Sean G. Taylor to take over for Dr. Nikki Woodson as superintendent starting next school year. Woodson announced her retirement in May 2024, effective at the end of the current school year.
Taylor has worked in the district for 16 years, including serving as the associate superintendent for Washington Township Schools since 2020. He was a middle and elementary school principal in the district for more than eight years.
Before moving to Washington Township in 2009, the district said Taylor taught elementary and middle school and was an assistant principal.
"Having had the privilege of five years of exemplary mentorship from our current superintendent, to my work across our school communities, I’ve seen firsthand the dedication, talent and diversity that make our district truly a destination district," Taylor said.
Taylor received his bachelor's degree from Ball State University and also holds a master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a doctorate from Indiana University.
