INDIANAPOLIS — A new superintendent will be leading MSD of Decatur Township beginning this summer.
In an statement Wednesday morning, a district spokesperson announced Scott Collins was unanimously approved by the school board of trustees on April 9 as the district's next superintendent, effective July 1.
Collins, who is currently the superintendent of the Fayette County School Corporation, has worked in education for nearly three decades as a teacher, principal, personnel director, finance director and assistant superintendent.
Prior to his year as an assistant superintendent and eight years as superintendent of the district, Collins was a principal in the Avon Community School Corporation for more than eight years.
“I am excited about becoming a part of a school community that is Decatur Proud!" Collins said in a statement. "As I have met with members of the community, school staff, administrators, and the school board, the love and passion for Decatur Schools is so evident. There are many great things happening in Decatur and I am looking forward to joining the Decatur Family!”
Collins has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University, master's degrees from Ball State University and an Education Specialist Degree from Indiana State University.
