INDIANAPOLIS — The SAT's are right around the corner for many students across Indiana.
13News spoke to Randy Stegemoller, with Class 101, about how students can get prepared for the standardized test.
Stegemoller says juniors and seniors should sign up for a test preparation course a few months ahead of the date they plan to take the SAT or ACT test.
If studying on your own, he says to make a study plan and stick to it. This will likely increase your scores and opportunities for admission and scholarships.
Consider taking early practice tests before sitting for the real test. Practice Tests are opportunities to find and target areas for improvement.
Stegemoller also says there are free resources for students that can be found online at the College Board and Khan Academy.
This year, there are a couple changes that students should note before taking the test. The testing will be done all digitally and it is nearly an hour shorter than the previous version.
Students will take the SAT on a computer or tablet. Stegenmoller says the digital advantage of the new SAT is the use of adaptive testing.
He anticipates some students needing help navigating the digital format, so he recommends using online practice tools to fully prepare students for the change.
