INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Public Schools is announcing changes after a family filed a lawsuit claiming a student was attacked by other students at School 87 while a teacher allegedly filmed and encouraged the assault.
Angelia Moore, president of the IPS board, announced the district is creating a new task force focused on student safety. Moore read a statement at Tuesday's board meeting, saying she was appalled by what happened in the video.
She also pointed out IPS plans to bring in an outside party to interview families and staff at School 87.
Moore said there will be an update on the plans in 30 days.
13News learned Tuesday close to 20 IPS parents are planning to speak at Thursday's board meeting. They've voiced concerns, not only about the video of the assault, but how it was handled by school and district leaders.
