CENTER GROVE, Ind. — The superintendent of Center Grove Schools retired Friday amid an Indiana State Police investigation.
Superintendent Rich Arkanoff submitted a request to retire on Friday, Jan. 5 to the Center Grove Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees, the district announced Friday.
In a statement posted to the district's website, Board of School Trustees President Scott Alexander said the Board and Business Department in the district is working with the State Board of Accounts and state police to "investigate inconsistencies with his time off and reimbursement tracking."
Alexander said the investigation is in its early stages and the board is cooperating with the appropriate authorities.
"We have no reason to believe the scope of this investigation will extend beyond the superintendent’s personal time off and reimbursements," Alexander wrote.
Arkanoff has worked in the school district for more than 12 years, the statement said.
Assistant Superintendent Bill Long will be named interim superintendent, pending a board vote, starting Monday, Jan. 8. Long has been an administrator in the district since 1998, including 20 years as assistant superintendent after more than three years as principal of Center Grove High School.
