BROWNSBURG, Ind. — Brownsburg Community School Corporation announced Dr. Kat Jessup will become the next superintendent for the district. Her appointment is pending public comment and a board vote on July 22.
Jessup is a graduate of Butler University and Ball State University.
Since 2011, she has served as the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
Jessup has been with the Brownsburg community for 31 years as a student teacher, teacher, assistant principal and principal.
“For over three decades I’ve worked alongside amazing educators and staff in Brownsburg. I feel very fortunate for the opportunity to lead them as the superintendent," Jessup said. "Partnering with countless Brownsburg families to help students achieve positive outcomes has been a highlight of my career thus far. I’m enthusiastic about continuing to serve the community where I have grown as an educator and raised my family.”
She has acted as co-interim superintendent since January when Dr. Jim Snapp abruptly resigned.
According to a statement from the board of school trustees at the time, Snapp's retirement was effective Monday, Jan. 15.
"For the past several months, the Board has been working to address issues relating to administrative concerns in his role as superintendent," the statement read. "The Board and Dr. Snapp met to discuss these concerns and Dr. Snapp made the decision to retire."
Snapp led the school district for 14 years.
