IMPD: 22-year-old woman killed in west Indianapolis stabbing; suspect detained

Police found the woman in the 6700 block of West 15th Street early Saturday morning.

INDIANAPOLIS — Police responding to a report of a stabbing found a woman dead at a home on the west side of Indianapolis early Saturday morning.

IMPD responded to the scene in the 6700 block of West 15th Street, not far from 10th Street and Interstate 465, shortly after 1 a.m. Aug. 24. When officers arrived on the scene, they said they found a woman who sustained injuries "consistent with trauma."

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the woman as 22-year-old Alexis Nicole Gossett.

IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. While on the scene, officers said they detained a suspect. Detectives said they believe all parties involved have been identified. 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
