INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman has been charged with murder in the deadly February shooting of a man on the city's far east side.
Tia Smith, 43, was arrested Sept. 11 in connection with the shooting death of 51-year-old Clevester Brown Jr.
The incident was reported around 6 a.m. Feb. 12, 2024, in the 4100 block of Brentwood Drive, near East 42nd Street and North Post Road. Responding officers located Brown, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigation indicated Brown had been shot.
A warrant for Smith's arrest had been issued at the time of her arrest. Online court records indicate Smith has been charged with one count of murder.
An initial hearing in the case was held Sept. 24, and a pretrial conference is scheduled for Nov. 13, according to the records. Smith's jury trial is currently scheduled to begin Nov. 19.
