INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was arrested after she allegedly tried to run over her boyfriend with six children in her car in Indianapolis Friday morning.
According to court documents, IMPD officers responded to a west Indianapolis house around 10:30 a.m. Dec. 22 for a domestic disturbance report where a woman, identified as Donesha Stewart, of Indianapolis, was threatening her boyfriend for allegedly cheating on her, and tried to run him over.
The man had previously left the house with Stewart and six children inside after being threatened, according to court documents. When he returned, he saw Stewart smashing his car windows with an unknown object.
After smashing his car windows, Stewart took the six kids and got into the car to drive away, according to the probable cause affidavit. As she was leaving, Stewart allegedly drove over the curb and onto the sidewalk in an attempt to run over her boyfriend. The boyfriend said he was able to hide behind a tree as she drove toward him.
When officers arrived, they saw the six children in the vehicle and found fresh tire marks from the car on the side of the curb and the grass.
Officers asked Stewart if she tried to hit her boyfriend with the car and she denied it. When an officer asked one of the children the same question, they put their head down and refused to answer, according to court documents.
Stewart was arrested and has been formally charged with two counts of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief, according to online court records.
