INDIANAPOLIS — 13News has learned the same woman charged in a string of downtown Indianapolis vandalisms at a parking garage is also charged in an attack in Broad Ripple.
Denise Honorio is facing a charge of aggravated battery in the Broad Ripple attack.
She was already facing charges of robbery resulting in bodily injury, criminal mischief and theft from the Feb. 2 vandalism and robbery incident. Honorio was accused of spray painting more than 50 vehicles in a parking garage off Washington Street. She was arrested Feb. 7 after being spotted in the area by an officer with the Indiana State Capitol Police.
Honorio allegedly had an ID in her pocket that belonged to a woman robbed Feb. 2 while she was walking along Capital Avenue in Indianapolis. Police investigating that robbery said the suspect assaulted and injured the woman before stealing her purse as she was leaving her shift at IU Methodist Hospital.
It was two days after those incident, on Feb. 4, when the alleged attack happened outside the Fresh Thyme in Broad Ripple.
“A woman was leaving the grocery store and another woman, apparently for no reason, seemed to attack her,” IMPD Lt. Shane Foley said.
The woman attacked ended up needing to be hospitalized for her injuries, which included a broken hip and elbow.
Honorio was linked to that assault as police were searching her apartment in connection to the vandalism. Inside, they found sweatpants and sunglasses that matched what the suspect was wearing in the Broad Ripple attack. Police were also able to get IndyGo video that showed Honorio get on a bus near her apartment and get off of it in Broad Ripple right before the attack.
