WHITESTOWN, Ind. (WTHR) - The Whitestown police chief vows to find who is responsible for targeting officers leaving behind damaged cruisers and graffiti on a policeman's garage door.

Vandals struck the homes of several police officers, damaging squad cars. Police say the vandals used a marker to write profanity on the side of cars and slashing tires.

Chief Dennis Anderson is asking residents of the Walker Farms subdivision to check their home security video. Most of the vandalism happened in that neighborhood between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

There is also damage on squad cars driven by officers from Lebanon, Speedway and Lebanon who live in the same subdivision.

Anderson promises not to stop until they find out who is responsible for the vandalism, especially after sharing how it makes him feel.

"Somewhat violated, but at the same time, I can understand with the current climate going across the country. But we work really really hard to build that police community partnership," he said. "I believe it's someone who has had interaction with law enforcement in the last month or so...and has an axe to grind."

The vandalism damage will cost the police department in repairs, another reason why they want whoever is responsible caught and punished.

Many of the homeowners in Walker Farms are just learning what happened.

If you have information that can lead to the arrest of the vandals, call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
