Warren football standout dies from May 6 shooting injuries

The Marion County Coroner's office said Tuesday that another victim from a shooting incident has died.

UPDATE: INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTHR) - The Marion County Coroner's office confirmed Tuesday that Dijon Anderson, 18, has died of injuries sustained in a May 6 shooting incident.

MSD of Warren Township issued the following statement Tuesday:

"Our entire school community is saddened by the passing of Dijon Anderson. We extend our heartfelt condolences and support to his mother and the rest of his family.

Tomorrow at the high school we will have the appropriate counselors, local ministers and mental health resources present to help our students and staff through the grieving process.

We would respectfully ask that the local media allow us to devote our attention to the needs of our students and staff during this difficult time."

EARLIER STORY:

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The Marion County Coroner's office identified the victim of a deadly early morning shooting as 17-year-old Angel Meji-Alfaro. Two other teens identified from a police report as Dijon Anderson, 18 and Darius Moore, 19, were injured in the shooting and transported to Eskenazi Hospital.

Police say four people were in a car near 38th and Moller Road when someone started shooting at them. A fourth person that was in the car was not injured.

The Metropolitan School District released a statement Saturday morning regarding the shooting and students from their school being involved, "As a school community we are saddened to learn of the tragic incident involving our high school students. We extend our heartfelt prayers to the families impacted by this terrible act. As classes at the high school resume on Monday, we will have the appropriate services on hand to counsel our kids."

Police were interviewing witnesses Saturday morning to figure out exactly what happened.
