Man injured in shooting on Indy's near northwest side

​The shooting was reported around 10:45 p.m. Saturday near West 29th and Dr. M.L.K. Jr streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a shooting on Indianapolis' near northwest side Saturday evening.

The shooting was reported around 10:45 p.m. July 20 in the 800 block of Udell Street, near West 29th and Dr. M.L.K. Jr streets.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer told 13News the victim was able to briefly speak with officers before being taken to Eskenazi Hospital. 

The victim reportedly told police that the incident did not happen on Udell Street, but rather further west "past the liquor store."

IMPD said they have not yet determined where the incident happened. The victim was initially reported to be in critical condition, but Weilhammer told 13News the victim was "stable."
