Woman killed, 3 people injured in northwest Indianapolis shooting

An IMPD spokesperson said a suspect in the case is in custody at an Indianapolis hospital.

INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a woman was shot and and killed in an incident on Indy's northwest side Thursday evening.

According to a release from IMPD, shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, officers responded to the 2800 block of Questend Drive on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found three adult victims with gunshot wounds. IEMS transported all three victims to area hospitals. 

One of the victims was transported in critical condition, but later succumbed to their injuries. Friday morning, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 48-year-old Heather Lynn Walters.

Later, officers learned of another shooting victim, an adult male, had arrived at an area hospital. Detectives believe that victim's injuries may be related to the Questend Drive shooting. 

An IMPD spokesperson told 13News a suspect in the case was in custody at an Indianapolis hospital.
