RICHMOND, Ind. — Two people have been hospitalized after a shooting in Richmond on Saturday.
According to a release by the Richmond Police Department, officers responded to the 1000 block of East Main Street, near North A Street, Dec. 9 on a report of a possible shooting. Officers arrived and located one victim with a gunshot wound and another with a reported head injury. Both victims were given first aid at the scene.
Officers interviewed nearby witnesses and determined a 56-year-old and a 53-year-old got into a verbal altercation that later turned physical before both parties pulled out guns during the fight.
Richmond police say both victims were transported to Reid Health in Richmond for treatment. The 56-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the abdominal area, while the 53-year-old, who was initially believed to have been shot in the head, was struck in the head with an object and suffered injury.
