INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Prosecutors have filed charges against two men who were allegedly involved in the shooting of a Marion County sheriff's deputy early Saturday.
Police identified Brandon Nickens as the suspect who shot Deputy David Clemmons during an attempted robbery at the IHOP restaurant at W. 38th Street and Interstate 465. He has been charged with attempted murder and attempted robbery resulting in serious bodily injury.
Javentay Chapman, 18, was also charged with attempted robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, as well as battery by means of a deadly weapon.
Clemmons was shot in the leg but released from the hospital later Saturday morning. Deputy Entwan Norris also tried to stop the robbery, but was not injured in the incident.
