TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHR) — A Terre Haute man has been arrested following an overnight chase.
An Indiana State Trooper pulled over a vehicle with no operating tail lights on Wednesday, Aug. 7 around 12:30 a.m.
The trooper spoke to all three people in the vehicle and noticed suspicious activity from the man in the rear seat. The trooper asked the men to stay in the vehicle while he returned to his patrol car to verify the provided information.
The man got out of the car and began running west, disregarding the trooper's commands to stop.
As the man attempted to cross Lee Avenue and Lafayette Street, other troopers were able to get him to get him to stop.
The man was later identified as Curtis S. Freeland, 34, who had methamphetamine and a hypodermic syringe in his backpack in the vehicle. It was also discovered Freeland was wanted out of Shelby County for auto theft and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
Freeland is was taken into custody and transported to Vigo County Jail.
