Teenager in custody after shooting 21-year-old in Anderson

Police believe there was a verbal argument between the two prior to the shooting.

ANDERSON, Ind. — A 17-year-old is in custody after shooting a 21-year-old in Anderson Monday evening.

According to the Anderson Police Department, officers responded to a report of the shooting around 7:30 p.m. June 24 in the 900 block of Walnut Street, near East 8th Street. 

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man who had been shot, and medics took him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe there was a verbal argument between the teenager and 21-year-old prior to the shooting.

The 17-year-old suspect was later found and taken into police custody.

This investigation is ongoing.
